From The Inside Out.

We sang this song in church Sunday and, I have been singing it the all week. I really want this to be my prayer.

From The Inside Out
by Hillsong United
album: United We Stand (2006)

A thousand times I've failed
Still your mercy remains
And should I stumble again
Still I'm caught in your grace
Everlasting, Your light will shine when all else fades
Never ending, Your glory goes beyond all fame
In my heart, in my soul, Lord I give you control
Consume me from the inside out Lord
Let justice and praise become my embrace
To love You from the inside out
Your will above all else, my purpose remains
The art of losing myself in bringing you praise
Everlasting, Your light will shine when all else fades
Never ending, Your glory goes beyond all fame
In my heart, in my soul, Lord I give you control
Consume me from the inside out Lord
Let justice and praise become my embrace
To love You from the inside out
Chorus 2x
Everlasting, Your light will shine when all else fades
Never ending, Your glory goes beyond all fame
And the cry of my heart is to bring You praise
From the inside out Lord, my soul cries out

How many years has it been since this wall was straight? Two more studs and it's ready for insulation.

Megan runs a 5K with her new dog

Megan ran her first 5K with Bujeau this weekend. It was to raise money for the dental school for funding for indigent care. It sounded like they did okay. Her friend Amber ran with Maggie so there was no tangling of dogs, leashes and legs. Woo Hoo, way to go!

Kathy finally gets Daniel's UGA quilt done.

My friend Dianne hired me to make a late graduation present for her son Daniel. Debbie and I made her son Andrew one a couple of years ago. Anyway, Daniel graduated last year and I just got the t-shirts in January. So like I said it is a late graduation present. I used this quilt as the model to show the t-shirt quilt class. It is finished, and I can get it to her this week. Yay!

Drew goes to prom.

Drew was asked to prom by his friend Jessica. So, he drove to Atlanta last weekend to visit with friends and go to prom. To his mother's surprise he took it on himself to buy a shirt and tie. He even knew the color of Jessica's dress so he could match it. I think it was interesting for him to go "back" to high school as this would have been his senior year if he hadn't taken his GED and started at Augusta State this year. Anyway, don't they look great. The black wrap was a nice touch.

Speaking of Tallulah....

Once again Tallulah leaves her mark. These footprints will be a permanent part of the floor, in the shop. Goofy dog.

Enough dog hair to weave a rug.......

I vacuumed the house Saturday and Sunday, and today I found this. I am so glad that I have a "fluffy" corgi, that is NOT supposed to shed as much or who knows how much dog hair I would be vacuuming up. Oh, well it's a good thing she is cute.

Katie quilts her quilt.

Saturday Katie quilted her t-shirt quilt. She did a really great job on the whole quilt. She had never sewn before this class, and look she is the first one to finish. Yay Katie. T-shirt quilts are great places to start. The squares are big and there are lots of long straight lines. The very first quilt I finished was a t-shirt quilt for Megan's graduation. I was hooked after that. I love to make t-shirt quilts. You get a glimpse into peoples lives and interests. It's a lot of fun.

Katie at the quilting machine. She was a little nervous to start, but she got the hang of it and did a really great job.

Holly sewing her rows together. Woo hoo!

The finished quilt, before being trimmed. Next time we meet Katie will sew the binding on.

Notice there is natural light from all the windows. yay!

No more paper on the windows.....

Well, we have finally have all the paper off of our windows. I'm so excited to have natural light in our bedroom. I think that eventually, I will want to have curtains as well just to make the windows a little softer. But, for now it is nice just to have all the paper gone. Yay for no more paper.

You're not crazy, by Ray Ortlund

I read this blog, pretty regularly and this one really spoke to me. I hope it speaks to you as well.

You're not crazy
A campus minister I know and admire, when he calls someone new onto his staff, gives them a plaque to hang on their apartment wall. It simply says, "You're not crazy." When we live all-out for the Lord -- and there is no other way to live -- we will at times think, "I must be crazy. Nobody should have to live like this. Holy cow, this is costing me big-time. Can I sustain it? Is it worth it?" And the world will whisper to us, "You're crazy. You shouldn't do this to yourself. Don't you know stress is bad for you? And if you don't have your health, what do you have? Nobody is listening to you, anyway. You're throwing your life away, buddy -- your one, unrepeatable, precious opportunity for happiness. Are you crazy?"You're not crazy. To stand before the Lord Jesus Christ, as very soon every one of us will, and to hear him say, "Well done, good and faithful servant," is worth anything. But to hear him say, "Depart from me" -- nothing is worth that. This life is short, but it matters forever. And we have wonderful promises in the Bible, every one of which will prove entirely and gloriously true, promises of his presence now and his reward forever, promises which can hang like plaques on the walls of our minds every time we turn around, telling us this truth: "You're not crazy. Go for it, baby. You're not crazy at all. You are so smart to trust Jesus, lean on Jesus, obey Jesus, look to Jesus, live for Jesus, rejoice by faith in Jesus, promote the cause of Jesus. He's a good boss to work for. He rewards well. You are so not crazy!"

Megan adds a new dog to the mix.

Last Sunday Megan spent a couple hours at Petsmart looking for a big goofy dog. She came home with Bujeau. He is a Catahoula. He is big, and he is goofy. That is what he needs to be to get along with Maggie. I think that this picture is funny, with 10 pound Maggie at the head of the bed, and 60 pound Bujeau at the foot. I'm not sure where Megan is going to sleep now, but it looks like the dogs have staked out their spots.
Welcome to the family you big goof.

Glory House Cafe.

My friend Serena from work told me that her mom owns a little cafe in Lincolnton, about 40 miles from us. I told her that we wanted to ride our motorcycles this weekend and maybe we would stop by there for lunch. So, that's what we did. It was a little cold and rainy this morning, but it was a good ride anyway. (Thank goodnes that Robert is a planner and had our rain gear in the saddle bags) The Glory House Cafe is a little hole in the wall place, that we probably wouldn't have stopped at if we hadn't planned on it. Patricia the owner was very friendly. She recommended trying the hamburger. So, that's what we had "all the way" with french fries. The fries were hand cut from potatoes that we saw the bring into the cafe. They were DELICIOUS. They were just like what my mom and dad used to make when I was a kid. It brought back such sweet memories. And then we had homemade strawberry shortcake to finish the meal. mmm mmm. So, if you are ever in Lincolnton, Ga. We highly recommend the Glory House Cafe.

It's been a slow blogging week.

I think it's been a slow blogging week because I'm always a little depressed when we have friends from ATL over and then they go back home. Last weekend my friend Beth came for a vistit. She said she needing a little "Kathy time". It was a good thing because I needed some Beth time as well. We all walked downtown on Friday and sat outside and ate at Nacho Mamas. Then Beth and I quilted and shopped on Saturday. It was a fun and relaxing weekend. Anyway a motrcycle ride and a quilt class are on my schedule for today so that will be a fun way to spend this weekend, maybe it will help to snap me out of my funk.

Deconstruction

Did you ever wonder what holds up the wall of a two story building? A 2 1/2 ton automotive jack! Actually it's just holding the wall while I take out portions of the wood footer so I can pour a cement footer.

Ahhh allerigic reactions.

I was on my way to gym this morning and had an allergic reaction. I felt my face flush and my ears started to itch, then it happened again. I got to the gym and went to the bathroom to see if I was breaking out in hives. No hives, but a blotchy red face and bright red itchy ears. I called Robert and told him I was headed home and that I did not have my phone. When I got home I took 50mg of Benadryl and Zyrtec. That helped a little, then I started to feel a little panicky so I used my Epi pen. That helped almost immediately. Whew! However, I just felt bad, so I went back to bed and slept for a couple of hours. I woke up with an Epi head ache, but I was much better. Things I learned, take ID to the gym, if I would have had mine I probably would have gone to the E.R. I always have Benadryl on hand, but maybe it would be a good idea to have liquid Benadryl as it would have absorbed faster. And, last but not least make sure that your Epi pens are in date. Mine expired in January, but I thought I'd give it a try anyway. And it worked yea! Never a dull moment at the Mullis house.

All that is left is the trim.

The good news is that I had the afternoon "free" because of my allergice reaction. I finally finished painting our bathroom. I don't love these colors either, but it is sooooo much better than the yellow. The ceiling and the top of the walls are "Arabian sand" and the bottom part is "wagon something" They seem to have hint of red in them to me. Which may be what I don't like. I like red to be RED. However, I don't dislike them enough to paint over them again. I just think they are a little boring. It's funny because I LOVE the colors in the rest of the house. I think I just can't quite get it right and I am too tired to care anymore. I did make the level where the "wagon something" starts different in the water closet because I thought the change might make it a little less boring and as a bonus I think it will bug my kids. :-)
These are the baskets I bought at Hobby Lobby. I finally got them in my tower. I really like them, and it make the tower even more useful. Look Megan an attempt at some organization. Woo Hoo!

A few things...

This is my late week and my triage week at work, which is good and bad. Good because I don't really like either so it is good to get them over at the same time. Bad because I don't get to go to work later because I am in triage and you just can't get there late or you will be buried in phone messages. It also means Robert and I don't commute because I never know when I might get off. Which reminds me that I called him last Tuesday to tell him I was clocking out and he said "that's great, but you drove yourself to work today." (oh, middle=age) Late week means Robert is in charge of meal planning and preparing. So, tonight it was burgers on the porch. It was a nice evening to eat out there and drink a glass of wine. Thanks honey.
This was the view out our back "front door" the sun on the house was spectacular.
And, even though my dog "Princess Tallulah Sassy Pants Bark-a-lot" has her faults. It always cracks me up that she has to be where she can see the whole herd. Robert and Drew in the living room and me in the bedroom.
And last rambling. Megan and I went to see 27 Dresses at the dollar theatre. It was a good chick flick, though the language.....Anyway, I was following close behind Megan to the bathroom, yep you guessed it right into the men's room. No one was in there, thank goodness. So, we got a laugh out of it, and so did the people working the concession stand.
Good night.
