Mullis/Leonard retreat.

This weekend, was the annual Mullis/ Leonard retreat. We got our wires crossed and they thought it was next weekend, and we thought it was this weekend. Anyway, the Leonards were flexible and we had a nice time. Saturday was a little cold and rainy, but we managed to have a good time, and we got to see this beautiful rainbow.

We did spend some of the time looking for something that would work for a checkout counter for the shop. There was a counter here when we bought the building, but it is ugly blue laminate. We didn't really find anything that would work, and are thinking that we will try something HGTV-ish to the counter to be creative and save some money. If you have any ideas I would love to hear them. (here is a picture of the counter in what is now our bedroom)
We did find this table though that would work for and island /table in our kitchen. It was a great find.

Kathy,

Saw this post on another blog today and thought I'd pass it on.

If you look (see the second photo specifically) you'll see that the counters here look like they've been clad in old barn wood... maybe an idea for your existing counter to give it more of the feel you are looking for. I don't know if old wood that would be usable would be any easier to find than an old counter but maybe it would work for you...

Love the table - it really fits your kitchen. Barn wood sounds good for the counter. And the laminate can be painted - just has to be primed (there's still red paint left)
